The Association for Italian Qualiity Award (APQI), established in 1996, was promoted by Confindustria, by the then Consorzio Universitario in Ingegneria per la Qualità – QUALITAL (presently Consorzio Universitario in Ingegneria per la Qualità e l’Innovazione – QUINN) and by the Associazione Italiana Cultura Qualità – AICQ, and by more members which joined later on.

It is a no-profit cultural association, having the objective to promote – in collaboration with other pubilc and private bodies – the quality system and the country system competitiveness. It carries out development and dissemination of methodologies, models and tools adapt for the valuation and improvement of public administration and private organizations. In particular, it organizes and manages Awards based on internationaly recognised Models of Excellence such as Total Quality Management (TQM), (EFQM for Excellence, CAF, Baldrige Excellence Framework).
